Dynamic Automatic Brake Release Function

Dynamic Automatic Brake Release Function

The dynamic automatic brake release function on vehicles with an electronic parking brake makes starting off more convenient for the driver. The driver can simply drive off without first having to release the electronic parking brake. This is particularly helpful when it comes to hill-starts.

To ensure that the car starts off as smoothly as possible, some models with manual gearbox have a clutch sensor. This analyses the operation of the clutch and ensures the optimum response by the system. All it takes to set the car in motion is to press the accelerator and release the clutch. In the case of models with automatic transmission, the driver just presses the accelerator. From the technical perspective, the control unit for the electronic parking brake analyses the signals relating to engine torque and speed, angle of incline and accelerator/clutch position in order to determine the ideal point at which to release the brake.
