Active Cylinder Management (ACT)

Careful use of resources: this commitment undertaken by Volkswagen is impressively illustrated by the introduction of Active Cylinder Management (ACT). When travelling at engine speeds of between 1,400 and 4,000 rpm and at speeds of up to 130 km/h, regardless of which gear is selected, two of the four cylinders can be – totally imperceptibly – deactivated. This optimises engine efficiency. The multifunction display tells you which engine mode is currently active.

On vehicles with Active Cylinder Management (ACT), fuel consumption in the combined driving cycle can be reduced by up to 0.5 l/100 km and CO2 emissions by 10 g/km. Depending on the driving situation, the saving can be as high as 1 l/100 km.
