Emissions Standards

Emissions Standards

The European emissions standards are legislation imposed by the European Union/Federal Republic of Germany governing the limits for the pollutants emitted in exhaust gas (sulphur dioxide, nitrogen oxides, hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide and, for diesel models, exhaust particulates). The Euro 6 emissions standard came into force on 1 September 2014. Different standards (e.g. BIN/LEV in the USA) apply in other regions of the world.
